Dear Rachel Gilmour MP
Family businesses are the backbone of our economy. Across the UK, 64% of people work for SMEs, but that number rises to over 90% in rural communities like West Somerset. Yet, Labour’s tax raid threatens their survival.
By capping Business Property Relief, raising employers’ National Insurance contributions, introducing the family farm tax, and imposing rigid employment laws, Labour is making it harder for family businesses to survive, let alone thrive.
Last week, a motion was tabled in Parliament to reverse these damaging policies. Shockingly, you did not vote for it. Our community deserves an MP who stands up for local businesses. Not one who stays silent when their future is at stake.
I urge you to back our family businesses, our pubs, our farms and demand the reversal of these measures. We need support, not contempt.
Yours sincerely,
James Wright
