Shadow Farming Minister Robbie Moore MP visited a family-run dairy farm in Stoodleigh this weekend, meeting with local farmers to discuss key challenges facing the sector. The visit was organised by James Wright an Exmoor Farmer and Conservative campaigner. Hosted by dairy farmers Luke and David Partridge.
Discussions centred on the issues affecting farming families, including concerns over Labour’s proposed tax changes on family farms, ways to improve farm productivity and profitability, and the critical role British farmers play in ensuring the nation’s food security.
Robbie Moore MP highlighted the national challenges facing British agriculture, stating “Food security is national security and farmers are a vital part of our food system. Yet they are facing mounting pressure from Labour’s tax policies, over regulation, and uncertainty around future support. We need policies that reward productivity, encourage innovation, and secure the long-term future of family farms. If we don’t act now, we risk undermining the very foundation of our rural economy and food security.”
James Wright, who invited Robbie Moore to visit the constituency, emphasised this is just about farming: "Here in Tiverton & Minehead, farming isn’t just an industry it’s part of community. Labour’s plans don’t just threaten farming, they are devastating our pubs, our village shops and hard working families. Robbie’s visit shows that the Conservative Party is listening and fighting for rural communities.”
The visit is part of ongoing efforts by the Conservative Rural Forum and local campaigners to ensure that the voices of farmers and communities like Tiverton & Minehead are heard in Westminster, with a focus on cutting red tape, protecting family farms, and driving rural economic growth.
